Hi Everyone ---To say it's been a whirlwind since our last newsletter is an understatement! Our Family Signing event on Saturday, April 21st was a tremendous success thanks to all of you. We boxed and shipped all the packages on Sunday and Monday and then left for the International Collectible Expo in Anaheim, CA on Tues. Fenton was introducing their Connoisseur and Christmas Collections and we couldn't miss that! We also spent a day at Disneyland since I'd never been there. We just got home on Sunday, packed up the van and left for the Fenton Jamboree in Portland, Oregon.  We sell glass at this convention so we took lots of goodies with us. We got home the following Monday and have been at the store ever since trying to catch up. Thank heavens we have good employees who can keep everything working while we're away!  There's lots of info in this newsletter so get a cup of coffee and enjoy!

Family Signing Event Recap

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Event customers, friends and employees! It was truly a success. We saw lots of new customers this year and many people who had only been voices on the phone until now. In case you've never been to an event it's generally a whirlwind day of chaos and excitement. We met Scott Fenton and Jim Pollock (our Fenton Rep) for breakfast at 7am. Then we went to the "back room" where Scott signed all of our phone orders for the next 3 hours. At 11:00, Scott started signing out in the store for the customers who had been selecting and stacking their purchases since the store opened. This continued until 3:00. Scott uses an electronic pen to sign and date the glass - if it's white glass, he will generally use a black ink and cover it with clear fingernail polish. Lots of people from all over Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area came to the event. Jim Pollock drew our winners for the door prizes. They were Susan Juntz and Rosita Dwyer (both from Fort Bragg) - Congratulations to both!

This Limited Edition 6 1/2 .... Midnight Safari" vase will be signed by both Tom and Scott Fenton - $89. Fenton has also introduced a 2 pc. Midnight Safari Temple Jar. These co-ordinate with the Designer Bell from spring which is completely sold out!   "Tropical Forest" is another pattern that is designed with the jungle theme.  There is a 10" vase and a 7" Pitcher with jungle leaves and just the eyes of the cat peering through.   Both of these are also done on black glass.

 Fenton Jamboree in Portland

Each year we go to the Fenton Jamboree in Portland. It's always fun to see old friends and meet new ones. This events sponsored by the Fenton Finders of Puget Sound and is like a small National Convention. This year the speakers were Martha Reynolds and Ferill Jean Rice. Martha was one the Fenton Designers in the Decorating Department and has designed many of the Connoisseur and Mary Gregory pieces over the years. She, recently left Fenton and started her own business. I m sure we will all miss her great designs in the coming years. Ferill Rice, President of the Fenton Art Glass Collectors of America, was the banquet speaker. She showed slides of her Fenton collection which focuses on Art Glass, with many pieces being done by Robert Barber. If the auction prices at the Jamboree were any indication of what's going to happen at the National Conventions this summer, bring lots of money to West Virginia. The prices were a lot higher than they usually are. I guess that's good news for all of the collectors who are buying Fenton as an investment!

Fenton introduces 2001 Connoisseur Collection
At the International Collectible Expo

We also went to the International Collectible Expo in Anahelm to see Fenton's new Connoisseur and Christmas products. Fenton had one of the busiest booths at the show - Scott was signing and there were lots of people in line. The Connoisseur Collection is all limited by the number of pieces made and consists of a 10 1/2"  Mulberry Pitcher with a Morning Glory design and a 23" Reverse Painted Lamp called "Hummingbird Arbor".   Its scenic design consists of a wooden bench in an arbor of Wisteria flowers and hummingbirds. The only Burmese piece this year is a 9" Vase inscribed with signatures of 12 Fenton Family members. The decoration on this is an aquatic setting with Veil Tail Goldfish. There is also a 9" blown Cranberry Vase attached to a black pressed foot. This is decorated with a stylized white flower and is quite stunning. This piece is especially difficult to make since these two types of glass have to be fused while both are still hot. There is a 9 1/2' Topaz Amberina vase with Poppy decoration and a 9" Favrene vase with a feathered edge tulip design. Dave Fetty also created a 6 1/2" vase which is in the category of true art glass! -- only a picture will do this vase justice!

There are also 2 new pieces in the Centennial Co!lection -- a pink perfume signed by Lynn Fenton and a Aubergine colored vase signed by Scott Fenton. (This new color is created by casing Cobalt over Violet glass.) There is also a new Diamond Lace epergne with 3 horns in Topaz rung with black. There are also 2 new Legendary Fashions - a Poodle Skirt (1950's) and an Evening Gown (1930/40's).

Fall Mini Catalog Exclusives
